My brother got married on Friday afternoon (tiny tiny casual super short wedding).
These pictures of my mom and I just make me really happy.
Last time I was with my parents, they misgendered me the whole time. At one point I corrected my mom after she called me “she” and she just said “I’m sorry, I just can’t say it. I can’t think of you that way.” That among other things (never ending parent-kid arguments) was pretty upsetting.
But this time my mom at least tried to use the correct pronouns for me. Exactly 100% of the time she would say “she-HE” and catch/correct herself right after. I do wish she’d just talk a bit slower and she’d probably get it right the first time, but the fact that she’s trying means a lot. And Saturday night at the wedding party, my brother wouldn’t dance with her so she put her hand on my shoulder and said “fine! Then I’ll just dance with my other son.” I almost cried right there.
